I am not a Windows guy but I have to use it. I am using it for example on my Apple Silicon MacBook Pro which demands for the Windows 11 ARM version (the one that Parallels Desktop provides).
Unfortunately I never got the 23H2 update which delivered such nice things as tabs in Explorer and - more important for me - the old taskbar behaviour regarding tab grouping and labelling.
I stumbled upon a little trick I want to share with all of you who also wait forever for 23H2 on the ARM platform.
Open the Local Group Policy Editor (gpedit.msc). Find the entry
Computer Configuration, Administrative Templates, Windows Components, Windows Update, Manage Updates offered from Windows Updates
Open the entry on the right called “Select the target feature update version”. Select “Enabled” and in the two fields in the “Options” section type “Windows 11” and “23H2”.
Open a command line with admin rights and type
gpupdate /force
If this fails, try again - may take some time. You may also restart your machine and try again und until you see two success messages.
Open Settings, Windows Update and check for updates. You should be presented with 23H2 being downloaded.
